    Nokia C5-00 can't capture photos

    Hi,

    I have a C5-00 with OS 062.001

    When taking a photo out of my J2ME app the Viewer opens and after about 4 seconds the complete App crashes.
    The exactly same App works fine on BlackBerry 8900 and Sony Ericsson C702 and Hazel and I have heard also on Nokia E71.

    Is this a known firmware bug?

    INFO: createPlayer(capture://video) succeeded
    INFO: player.getControl(VideoControl) OK
    INFO: videoControl.getSnapshot(null) ---> MIDlet Crash

    Thank you
    Marcel

    PS: I have downloaded another J2ME app which fails as well

    Re: Nokia C5-00 can't capture photos

    Hy marcelruff,

    I am develping a camera app at the moment, too. On my C5-00 everything works well. I use following bits of code:

    Code:
      mPlayer = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
      mPlayer.realize();
      mVideoControl = (VideoControl) (mPlayer.getControl("VideoControl"));
      mVideoControl.initDisplayMode(VideoControl.USE_DIRECT_VIDEO , <MIDletname>.mCanvas);
      mPlayer.start();

      if (mPlayer != null) {
        raw = mVideoControl.getSnapshot(null);
        mImage = Image.createImage(raw, 0, raw.length);
      }
    If the code is correct, your C5-00 may have not much memory left, as taking a photo is really memory consuming.

    Re: Nokia C5-00 can't capture photos

    Thank you for your feedback.
    What is your OS version?

    Mine returns for *#0000#
    OS 062.001 11.12.2010
    which is the newest.

    On another Nokia C5.00 from Oktober 2010 I remember that photos worked as well

    Thanks
    Marcel

    Re: Nokia C5-00 can't capture photos

    My Version is from March 2010, so it is much older. Nevertheless I would still check the free memory. "raw = mVideoControl.getSnapshot(null);" killed the App for me too if I did run out of memory (repeatly sending my jar by bluetouth filled it up).
