    Question how to hide an application from appearing on the running apps list

    hi everyone,

    i want to create an application that when i send it to background it will not appear on the running applications when holding the menu buttons
    i am able to hide my application(send it to background) with the following code
    RWindowGroup* wg = &CCoeEnv::Static()->RootWin();
    wg->SetOrdinalPosition(-1);
    and this will also work for sending it to background
    CCoeEnv * env = CCoeEnv::Static();
    TApaTask task(env->WsSession());
    task.SetWgId(CEikonEnv::Static()->RootWin().Identifier());
    task.SendToBackground();
    but the application is still appearing on the running apps list
    is there a way to hide it too from appearing on the running applications when holding the menu button?
    Thank you for any help

    Re: how to hide an application from appearing on the running apps list

    hi kamalakshan
    i tried that but getting the same result.. i added hidden = KAppIsHidden; to my reg.rss file and make the sis from command prompt
    make sis QT_SIS_CERTIFICATE=abc.cer QT_SIS_KEY=abc.key
    because if i run the project from Qt , the reg.rss will return back to its previous
    and same result happened...the application is in background when i hide it but still appear between the running applications

    is there any other method?
    i read about CAknAppUi::HideApplicationFromFSW(ETrue);//HideApplicationFromFSW
    but getting errors when compiling that i cannot call CAknAppUi::HideApplicationFromFSW without object
    any idea ?
    Regards

    The poster wants the solution in Qt and not in Symbian C++. All the above links are for Symbian.

    Similar issue is discussed here but no solution posted for that thread yet.

    Re: how to hide an application from appearing on the running apps list

    hey everyone ..thx all for your help
    i achieved the goal by hiding my application from the running applications list

    i did the following for hiding it from the list:
    CApaWindowGroupName* wgName = CApaWindowGroupName::NewLC(
    CCoeEnv::Static()->WsSession(),
    CEikonEnv::Static()->RootWin().Identifier());
    wgName->SetHidden( ETrue );
    wgName->SetWindowGroupName( CEikonEnv::Static()->RootWin());
    wgName->Hidden();
    CleanupStack::PopAndDestroy( wgName );
    and send it to the background by the method declared previously in first comment
    RWindowGroup* wg = &CCoeEnv::Static()->RootWin();
    wg->SetOrdinalPosition(-1);

    hope this will help others later
    Regards
