    Arabic language support on E63

    Hi All,

    I have developed an application which has "English" and "Arabic" language support. It is working fine on E72 for both English and Arabic, but when I run my application on E63 and try to display the Arabic text the device is hanging.
    Is Nokia E63 does not support Arabic language or is there any other particular reason for not displaying arabic?

    Regards
    Rahul

    Re: Arabic language support on E63

    Is it an E63 with Arabic language support built-in, or an E63 intended for some other country/region where Arabic is not spoken (in which case the device would not have Arabic language support)?

    Note also that the E63 is based on an older version of S60/Symbian. Which SDK version did you use to build your app?

    Where in your code does the app hang on the E63?

    Hi Petrib,

    We are testing on E63 in India therefore I think its not intended for Arabic support but at the same time the application works fine on E72 and other devices which are also intended for some other country.
    We are using Nokia Qt SDK 4.7.0 to build our app.
    When we change try to display the arabic text , that time the application is hanging.

    Nokia is - to my experience - including Arabic support in the devices, unless they have firmware intended for Arabic speaking regions/countries.

    If it works on an E72, and the E72 shows Arabic correctly, then in all likelihood it has the required support for Arabic, as opposed to th E63. Have you tried debugging your app/code using AppTRK on the device to see where it may be hanging?

    What do the phones display, if you "dial"

    *#0000#

    (For someone who can decode what they display, it should be able to determine whether the firmware version has or hasn't Arabic support.)

    I made Arabic applications that run on E63 very well. They were devices from the Arab region and outside it.

    I just use this line and works:
    Code:
    /*Enable Arabic text*/
    QTextCodec::setCodecForCStrings(QTextCodec::codecForName("CP1256"));
