    Re: move image without draw

What do you mean? To paint an image in a new position, the someone always has to redraw the image in the new position (and also redraw the background where it used to be).

If you want to move images around on the screen, search the library ( http://library.forum.nokia.com/ ) for the keyword "sprite" and "GameCanvas" (you may wish to limit your search scope in the library to just "Java", so that you don't also get Symbian/Qt/C++ stuff unnecessarily in the search results).

The wiki graphics section might also have useful articles for you to read: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...phics_Articles

    Re: move image without draw

OK ,I saw one post about ” Dealing-with-large-image “ and scrolling large map without OutOfMemoryError
grahamhughes answered this question with “buffer image”.

Please See this post: Dealing-with-large-image - grahamhughes answer (post#15)
How can I implementing this idea?

    -sorry for my poor English-

OK. I see what you mean. Map/navigation softare seem to "tile" the maps, so that they consist of small parts where a tile is drawn when it becomes visible. That way, a huge map does not need to be loaded intirely into memory at once, but only enough tiles to cover what's shown/visible (and maybe surrounding tiles, so that when the map moves, they're already in memory).

    Re: move image without draw

Tile maps are simple enough. They become tricky only if you need a lot of performance with very little memory. Optimizing the drawing strategy depends on the particular situation.

Tell us a little about your tile map...

In applications like Google Maps, each tile is unique. In games like Sonic, a large tile map is made from a relatively small number of unique tiles (with the same tile being used many times over in the map). Which is your application like?

Does your game/application scroll equally in all directions? Many games, for example, scroll mainly left-right, and have little or no up-down scrolling.

    Graham.
