Exclamation Windows Mobile 7.1 Browser - Flash lite support?...

We develop flash based web apps to Nokia devices for local market. Our web app. runs the web site just after matching the IMEI of the device, thanks to the flash lite support of the Symbian browser. We use "getdeviceid" command from the "fscommand" set of flash lite to get the IMEI.

I searched Microsoft forums but couldn't find the correct answer: Will it be possible to retrieve IMEI from Windows Mango web browser using flash commands? Will Nokia let developers to access the IMEI of Mango phones? This question is very criticial for our business.

I would expect the announcement from Adobe when their have some sort of support ready for wp7 here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplatform/

    Something similar to this:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/readermobile/...ndows-phone-7/

So far date is still unknown
    http://www.silverlightshow.net/news/...s-Phone-7.aspx

From then on, I would expect to see some more clarification on the level of Flash light support on Mango.

Sorry to tell you but Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) will not support ActiveX in the Browser = no Flash support.
However, have you looked into http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/wallaby/ ? It allows you to create HTML5 apps from existing Flash apps. Using HTML5 you could increase your reach to Windows Phone, iOS, Android and many more.

As there is no much api available to hook with browser or similar writing flash plugin is not possible so far, thus no chance of having flash that's the technical limitation than strategic one

It is a strategical decision, you can bet. It is rather simple to add API-s for plug-in development in a managed environment. If someone wants to.

Allright, then I want to ask my second question again:

The aim is, to retrieve an unique-id from the device as IMEI or bluetooth ID via web page (server side). It is possible to get the IMEI in current Symbian S60 browsers, thanks to the (getDeviceid) command of Flash-Lite.
    .
Is it possible to retrieve IMEI or bluetooth ID or any other device ID from web page (server side) on Mango browser?

    Hi tsgulen,

I have contacted somebody to find what could be answered to your second question about retreiving IMEI / BTID / SS / Mango browser.

Will post here whenever I receive something.

    Best,
    Marko
