Unhappy WRT not W3C Widget Standard compliant?

    Hi,
The SDK seems to complain when I declare an <access> element with an origin attribute. It says:

    Code:
attribute "origin" not allowed here; expected attribute "subdomains" or "uri" or an attribute from another namespace
The W3C WARP Spec says that "origin" and "subdomains" are valid attributes (uri is not):

Hi marcoscaceres and welcome to forum!

Symbian Web Runtime is not W3C Widget standard compliant, hence the linked Widget Acess request policy does not apply it.

Please read following documentation for more information about WRT
    http://www.developer.nokia.com/Resou...b-runtime.html

Re: WRT not W3C Widget Standard compliant?

    Hi Ilkka,
    The documentation clearly says:

"Developers can create interactive applications using web standards such as XHTML, cascading style sheets (CSS), W3C widgets, and the JavaScript™ programming language."

    http://www.developer.nokia.com/Resou.../overview.html

Also, the xml namespace used in the configuration document is the W3C Widgets one. Evidently, this runtime makes an attempt to be W3C compliant. The problem appears to be that Nokia has implemented an obsolete version of the specification. Likely, this one http://www.w3.org/TR/2009/WD-widgets...access-element

This makes content I create for Nokia WRT useless on other runtimes, and the other way around. I would like my content to interoperate on other runtimes instead on only Nokia devices (specially if this is all based on what are supposed to be open standards).

    Hi,

That documentation is about Series 40 Web Apps which is a different offering than Symbian WRT.

Please not that the Series 40 Web App is somewhat special compared to regular W3C widgets, because it is utilizing proxy browsing. In practice this means that only MWL functions are executed on the device rest of the JavaScript is run on a server side.
