"If you have a new mobile app for Nokia Series 40 phones – or if you are updating an existing app – that will be published to Nokia Store in time..."

So, could someone from Nokia clarify if applications need to be publicly available in Ovi Store before the deadline in order to be eligible to participate ?
    Dear cadlg,

This is Ajla again and I am contacting you to provide you clarification
regarding the deadline of submission for the Create 4 Millions contest.

Please note that the application has to be submitted to Nokia Publish by
November 1st (i.e. it needs to be in QA and have a valid content ID). Please
note that in order for the application to qualify for the contest, the
    application has to pass QA.

Therefore, I would highly recommend that you submit a build to Nokia Publish as
soon as possible to ensure that you have not missed any QA test cases.

I hope that I have fully addressed your inquiry. If you have any other
questions, please let me know and I will be happy to assist you.

    Best Regards,

    Ajla

If that is the case, then all of us who are still working on the final details before submitting our apps, are already out, which would be very bad since this was never clearly stated, and one would expect that, unless otherwise stated, things would be similar from one contest to another.

Can we get an official answer for this, please ?
See http://www.developer.nokia.com/create4millions/. It says there at the end. Matters are as clear as they can get; if you have all three of them, do submit them by Nov 1st 23:59 GMT and you are on

    Code:
You must provide the following when you enter the contest:

    Valid contact details
The content item URL from Nokia’s Ovi Store.
A short demo video to showcase your app

Kellogs, can you please clarify where did you get the response you posted from ? You are clearly not a member of Nokia Publish Support, since you asked the same question a few days ago, so I guess that is something someone from Nokia sent you.

The "content item URL" mention doesn't clarify a thing, because as you should know, you get the item URL since the moment you submit the application for QA, not until the app is published.

So, I still would appreciate some official clarification.

    Thank you.

But, I noticed the top prize in each category started at 75000 euros and has come down to 50000 euros now which kind of surprised me as I have noticed across many contests that the prize money would normally be increased to make it more exciting and increase awareness and participation and based on so many other successful contests, as a contest , for participation it would feel great if there is an overall big prize as well. This coming from a common developer standpoint. We have some great ideas for Web apps [ as well as Java apps ] but we are still undecided whether me and my team members should participate though we are very keen. In terms of being worthwhile, for us it has become a dilemma of developing mobile apps for feature based versus smartphone base. Having said that, Nokia is doing a great job of holding these contests and inducing participation from the developer community to develop apps.
Perhaps it is best you submitted than thinking about the money, the world needs great apps from people like you!!

So, is it for us to submit our content by Nov 2nd or is it for the content to be available for downloading on Nov 2nd ?

    Thank you
I think what you should be doing is constantly checking the updates from QA, where it shows you the pass/error rates on your apps so that you can know what to correct and make the whole process faster for the QA.

Re: Enter the Create for Millions contest

It says the last date for submission of entries for the create for million contest is November 1. So, does it mean we can submit it ON November 1 (Tuesday) as well ?
And uploading the jar_file of the app + the demo video through the contest login page should be enough ?

It would be great if Nokia let us know on both the above at the earliest.
    Thanks

Re: Enter the Create for Millions contest

I was checking my entry, and noticed a discrepancy in the content URL requested. When submitting a new entry, the sample example it gives is: http://store.ovi.com/content/251434. However, when editing an existing entry, the sample url the form gives is: https://publish.ovi.com/download_items/show/251434. While the prefix isn't too much of a concern for me, the ID that is valid for these two formats is different. For example, my ovi store url would be: http://store.ovi.com/content/214271 (still waiting on QA approval for this link to work) while my publish ovi url would be (with the last 4 digits X'd out): https://publish.ovi.com/download_items/show/37XXXX.

Basically - which version of the url does the contest actually want so that I can ensure they have the easiest time accessing my entry? Thanks!

don't worry. any of the link should work. u should use this kind of link : https://publish.ovi.com/download_items/show/251434

don't worry. they know how to get the application from any of the URL.

As per the mail when we submit any app to contest, the result will be announced in December. But there are no guess about other contest prizes.

Apparently the winners of Create4millions will be out today. Can barely wait to see if AppCRAFT made it with our education apps. http://www.facebook.com/notes/nokia-...41511545884143

Hope there are many happy developers after today. Creating Apps for the next million was fun. Please use your prizes wisely guys and bring many more world class apps to S40.

Ps... Simon is getting the champagne and glasses out of the fridge in expectation of the announcement.

Hi Simon. Isn't that for Nokia East and Southern Africa regional competition? But waiting to see if my app won too.

Yes thats the East and Southern African part of the contest, but it's all linked together. Anyway lets wait and see, the news hasn't gone live yet, so maybe they are still working on it.
