    Windows Phone 7 Programing Language

    Hi,
    I did a small research on Windows Phone 7 and founf that to develop application we need to either select XNA or Silverlight tamplet. For appllication we need to select Silverlight. Now my question is , is the language is same as that of the C# that we use in Windows Mobile 6 development or its has a different set of API.
    Let say in Windows Mobile 6 I use
    message.show("hello world");
    to dislay message , is the same thing works on Windows Phone 7.
    I don;t have the setup now so could not check it out, just need a basic idea not different it is from Windows mobile

    C# is C#. The API set is different. You can dig out many discussions and articles about it. Here is a random one: http://dotnetref.blogspot.com/2010/0...have-nots.html
    Even if you do not want to set up the tools right now, you may consider downloading the free book. http://msdn.microsoft.com, click on Phone, and scroll a bit downwards, the Books section is in the right panel.

    Thank you wizard_hu_ , i went through the links. its helps me to be more clear. but i just need to know one thing. as you said it uses C# but the API set is different. So in this case I believe the API that we have used in Windows Mobile will not work for Windows Phone, is that correct?

    Hi,

    Totally different in Windows Mobile 6 API and windows phone 7 API, If you are Windows Mobile 6 developer then easily start windows phone 7 development.

    Download VS 2010, SDK windows phone 7, and Zune software install.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...(v=vs.92).aspx given link sample code.

    "The API" does not exist. "API for xy" exists. If you want to generate a random number, you will still use the Random class. However for accessing files you will use the new Isolated Storage API set.

    Re: Windows Phone 7 Programing Language

    Hi V-6,

    I do agreed with wizard C# is C#.
    As you mentioned in your query message.show("hello world"); Yes message.show API is working for both platforms, however Windows Mobile 6.0 and Windows Phone 7 both are different OS. Windows Phone 7 supports framework Silverlight and XNA.

    Code:
    Message.Show("hello world");

    Hope it helps.
