    Smile OVI submission

I had submitted a Qt app to OVI store on Friday. This is my first submission. In the OVI publisher site, In the content tab, under QA Overview it is written as
    Item : Passed
    Files : 1 in progress

I'am confused by this. So have my application passed the QA test or still review in progress ? From what I read, QA tests should take 3-4 days.

item means the text & images for the content item, Files means the actual files that will be delivered through the store. The item is simply checked to comply with the rules without any testing required, and the Files actually will be tested with real devices to see that they are ok as well, thus that part takes a bit longer.

Thanks yucca. The QA for the application should be over in 2-3 days right ?

I suppose that is the target, however, on vacation times there could be less people working, as well as sometimes there are more submissions to be processed, and also the actual content could require longer testing time, thus the actual QA time will vary.

Unfortunately, my app failed the QA tests. I have requested for the reasons. Is there any procedure for resubmission ? I searched, but couldn't find anything specific to resubmitting the app.

    Re: OVI submission

Basically you should just check what the reason for failing was, then fix it, and if necessary replace the previously submitted file and then just resend it to the QA. Resubmitting is bad idea, in many different perspectives.

This is what I want to do. What is the problem with resubmit ? Is it something different than the above mentioned ?

Resubmitting the whole thing would mean that there are duplicate content that is not published, which I feel unnecessary. Thus as said, you should instead just replace the older file, with fixed one.

Is there any specific problems you are facing on doing this ?

No, what I meant is replacing the old sis with the new one with the issues fixed. I guess I just used the word resubmit wrongly. Replace the current sis, that was what I wanted. One of the reasons for QA failure is that application doesn't show an icon on installation. But I have added the following to the Qt PRO file ' symbian:ICON = icon.svg ' and it has always been displayed while testing. The icon.svg file is present in the same folder as the PRO file. I used the publish option to create the sis to upload.

Also make sure that your icon is not the default one, but actually something unique, as well as something you own rights to distribute. Then you could always try with RDA devices to see that the latest sis file indeed has the icon right. Or reset your testing device to get more accurate testing results.

    Smile Re: OVI submission

The icon was always there when testing using the RDA. The Nokia Qt sdk 1.0 had an option to add certificate details while building. I need to build with the RDA certificate. Don't see it on Qt sdk 1.1.2 and Qt creator 2.1. It creates a self signed sis that don't work only on some RDA devices.

Regarding the icon I found the following in the .pri file
    icon.path = /usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps
I don't know what this path is. Do you think this can be a problem ? Otherwise, I can't find any issue with the icon.

    Re: OVI submission

' symbian:ICON = icon.svg ' should work just fine, also if the icon does show, then you might want to ask some clarifications from the QA.

Yes. I'am going to request some clarification. I tested once again with RDA on an an N8 and an xpress music. The icon did show up on both of them. Thanks for your support.
