    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit & 64-bit and S40 Emulator on a 2.4 GHz Mac.

Hello, everyone. I am using an Intel-based Macintosh. If I correctly understand the content of the file linked from the below URL, the Nokia SDK 1.0 for Java will not work on Mac OS X.

    http://www.developer.nokia.com/info/...ase_Notes.html

First, I want to make sure that I understood correctly with regard to Mac OS X. Is it indeed correct that the Nokia SDK 1.0 for Java and the Emulator for Series 40 devices will not work on Mac OS X? If it turns out that the SDK and Emulator can be made to work on a specific version of OS X, I could use either OS X 10.5, 10.6, or 10.7.

Under the supported platforms of the release notes, both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition are listed. Regarding using the emulator on Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, the above release notes indicate, “Emulator doesn't launch on Windows 7 64bit with JRE6 64bit.” With that in mind, can the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition be used with the Emulator to simulate S40 devices?

Also, the processor speed of my Mac is 2.4 GHz. While this is above the minimum hardware configuration listed in the above release notes, it is slightly below the recommended hardware configuration of 2.8 GHz. Might I encounter any issues using the Emulator with that processor speed?

Yes, the SDK is only available for Windows platforms.

Sorry, I do not have answers to your other questions :-(

Your best bet: Use Parallels and Fusion and run 32-bit Windows using them, and Nokia's tools/SDKs that way.

Thank you, hartti and petrib, for the information. Using either Parallels of Fusion (vis-à-vis running Windows natively via Boot Camp), would you expect the performance to be sufficient to run the S40 Emulator?

Depends on what you want to do. If you are patient and your MIDlet does not have any timeouts, you can use even slower computers without much problem.
