    $99 annual cost

So same old story starts again, that do i have to pay some money before i am able to deploy for example with digital signature the application written by me on my own WP7 phone.

I mean that, if i write WP7 application by my self, is it possible to delploy that WP7 app on my phone without any certifiacations and/or payments to some authorities.

See the positive side: it is half as much as a Publisher ID for Symbian Signed, and it is available to individuals ;-)

Well. With the help from OPDA i signed my own made Symbian applications for free of charge - when i tested application on my phone and on my
own purposes BEFORE relaesing app to anyone else.

Sure i understand, that sw business has to spread and that is the reason why applicaton developer has to pay some money.
But this $99 annual fee is just the new beginning of the new mobile business area.

And sure WP7 developer tools are free and MS quality is excellent.

But i found another drawback too, that my computer (bought in the year 2007) is not able to handle DDI and WDDM 1.1 requirements when
deploying WP7 app on my Vista desktop computer :

    "
DirectX 10 capable card with a WDDM 1.1 driver is needed to take advantage of GPU acceleration on Windows Phone Emulator.
    "

    But life goes on.

I am also agree with teknikko. If I wish to launch my application outside then I won't have issue to pay$99, but this should be one time fee only. second, if the application is on development phase I do not need to pay anything to test my application on 1 or 2 devices, atleat MS can provide some kind of certification(as we have in symbian dev cert) to test application in development pahse.

I happy to pay for MS development tools fee (one time fee) instead of paying $99 every year. This model is not developer friendly.

    Re: $99 annual cost

When you buy WP7 phone it is in "developer locked" state.
If you want to deploy app on your phone, first you have to "buy" developer account by $99 annual fee.
But if you are a student, so in the most cases you will get your developer account free of charge, if you have
proper studen id number (ISIC card number). But if you are not a student, you have to buy a Marketplace developer account.

When yo have marketplace developer account, you can unlock you WP7 phone with this app found from Windows Phone SDK 7.1 folder :

Just commenting myself that i bought low cost Ati Radeon HD 5450 display controller card (34 euros here in Finland) and with
that card i managed to get my Windows Vista dispaly to understand WP7 phone emulator in correct way.
Now my system's WP7 emulator is capable to work as best way as it can when debugging apps and showing on the
desktop's sceen what "really is heppening on real life looked from emulator's screen".

You can't deploy apps if your device is not unlocked(registered developer device), so even if u want to test it urself, you need to get it registered.

    Re: $99 annual cost

No, you can not. The device has to be unlocked first, which requires a fully functional AppHub membership. See #6.

However there may be 3rd-way from ND, see http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...nchpad-members
