    Hello subbuvlb@gmail.com,

and welcome to Nokia Developer Discussion Boards!

Would it be possible for you to provide the source code of your application for review in order to analyze the root cause of the performance issue?

    Regards,
    r2j7

It is rather unlikely that filling a rectangle would take 4 seconds on any device. Think over what else happens. For example if you have 10000 items, and run a loop over them, attempting to display all, and letting the canvas to cut down the invisible part, that will be slow. If the items come from something "external", like RMS/file/etc., that can be slow too.

In canvas based application,I think you have written the code in keyPressed method for detecting which key is pressed and upon that using last activated flag you have drawn rect and filled it with highlighted color. In such activity you have to repaint all screen(means draw all elements from scratch using loop). So may be due to these activities you app getting slow.

try to reduce the elements on canvas better way you can use other UI tools to design your GUI like LWUIT or polish
