    Certification Error. Contact Application Supplier.

    Hi,

I built a project_installer.sisx file successfully for my project. Now when ever I try to install it on the phone I get the following error: Certification Error. Contact Application Supplier.

    I followed the following guide:
    http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...gn_Certificate

I searched the forum and checked recenet threads but non of the solution mentioned there helped.

    I made the phone's date 1 day ahead PC's date. e.g., PC: 31st-Oct. - Phone: 1st-Nov., but it didn't help.

The only thing left is soft-resetting the phone which I can't do now and I don't have any other Nokia S^3 or newer symbian phone to test on.

Could someone help or suggest what else to try to fix this? I wish there was a log file or a more detailed error that gives some clue.

    Environment: Windows 7, Carbide.c++ v3.3, Nokia C7-00.
    Capabilities: Location ReadUserData WriteDeviceData
    Certificate: Self-Signed
    PC Time: 31-10-2011
    Phone Time: 1-11-2011
    Earlier Problem (fixed): http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...bian3_SDK_v1.0

If the project build well in the emulator and run fine, and not installing on the phone, then it should be certificate error.

The capability WriteDeviceData is not granted on self-signed certificate. You need developer certificate for that.

I removed WriteDeviceData from the required capabilites but I still get the same error.

My application runs fine in WINSCW (Emulator).

To get a Developer Certificate, I need to get a Publisher ID first from TC TrustCenter, but I read that they are not giving it to individuals and I don't have a company. Is there any other options?

Does your application really don't require WriteDeviceData capability? If not required then signing with self-signed certificate is ok.

What is UID of your application? Is it protected UID?

    Is there any other options?
Yes, download the certificate and keys from RDA and then sign your application with that certificate and key. Note that you have to test that application on RDA only.

Yes I need WriteDeviceData capability to change system volume and write app. config., I removed it for testing purpose and now I put it back.

The UID is generated by Carbide.c++ Qt Project wizard so it should be protected.

I will get a Publisher ID since I am going to need it anyway.

    Thanks savaj and rahulvala.

    This problem is FIXED.

Sorry to bump this up again.

I got my Symbian Publisher ID, but I can't make it work.

    Code:
    C:\Symbian\Carbide\Workspace\MyProject>signsis -o MyProject.sisx

    Primary:
Issued by TC TrustCenter Class 2 L1 CA XII.
    Issued to MyCompany.
    Valid from 15/11/2011 to 15/11/2012.
I am getting the same error when installing the sisx file:
    Certification Error. Contact Application Supplier.

    I read the following guide:
    http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...Symbian_Signed

I did everything there till step 6. I verified my SymbianSigned login then uploaded a C7-00's IMEI# and reserved some UIDs and used one of them in my project, and then I downloaded the Developer .cer and .key files and signed the unsigned sis package with it. It installs and works fine except the GPS, when I use it I get: Conn. failed. Access denied. This is with the developer certificate but with my publisher ID certificate it gives me the error message, although signsis -i shows correct info.

    Capabilities used in my project:
    Code:
        TARGET.CAPABILITY = Location \
            ReadUserData \
            WriteUserData \
            ReadDeviceData \
            WriteDeviceData

And what about UID? Using one which IDE generated for you? Note that you have to get protected UID form symbiansigned and use that one for signing application with developer certificate.

I replaced the one project generated for me with the one I got from SymbianSigned.

    TARGET.UID3 = <NEW UID FROM SYMBIANSIGNED.COM>

Sis is generated successfully as I mentioned in my posts.

The first link you provided is for for QtCreator and I am using Carbide.c++ as I mentioned in my first post.
The second link is for publishing my software on OviStore. I am not there yet.

    I re-read Complete_Guide_To_Symbian_Signed and saw this line:
Your SIS file is now ready for Symbian Signed submission. Note that the SIS file cannot be installed until it has been processed by Symbian Signed and returned to you.
I didn't do that. I think thats the problem. I will try it now.

Re: Certification Error. Contact Application Supplier.

I can't submit my app unless my app passes all the tests mentioned here:
    http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu..._Test_Criteria

I can't use the GPS, I get: "Conn. Failed. Access Denied." at the top left of the screen. so untill I make everything work using the developer certificate I shouldn't submit the app for a Symbian Signed certificate.

I will open another thread for the GPS problem.

    Thanks again everyone for helping.

Double check your UID, this is the only thing that cause problem. Also do reallyclean, build your project, uninstall existing one and install new sis file.

The only place to put the UID is in .pro file and it is correct (I just checked it again).

I always clean build my project using Ctrl+Shift+Minus.

I uninstall the app in the phone from "Application Mgr.\Installed Apps."
