    hi all.

i want to use my mobile E71 flash light as a torch. So is there any API to access the flashlight of the phone.

    Thank you.

    hi Wizard_hu_ ...
its realy nice to have u here ....
actually this API is only working for the BackLight and the Keypad Light.
and this functionality is also specific to some Mobiles, in some cases it dims the light..
in some cases just turn the light of keypad etc off...

please i would be looking for your reply...

if you perform any test case that is related to my request, do post it ..
    thank you

    Have a nice Day

As far as I know, there's no published SDK API to just turn on the camera LED (or on some few models a Xenon flash) from software. If there's a low-level/undocumented API at the OS level, it might be revealed through Symbian^3 source code, but if that's left to vendor-specific implementations, it won't be there, either.

    Oh thts realy fine ....
I have followed the link and downloaded the source code provided there...
but there is one problem i am getting that is:

CCamera::EFlashVideoLight method or enum is being used in the SetVideoLightL() Function...

But the Compiler of Carbide is not getting this and displaying message of undefined... rather i have included the required header files and libraries.

    what should i do.

The article does not really go into details about which S60 3rd edition platform it means. The constant is present in later SDK-s, it is 0x80. So you can try passing (TFlash)0x80 or (CCamera::TFlash)0x80, whichever compiles.
