How can i request 1 signed or certified from Nokia ?

    Hi all,

I want to access cell-Id and IMEI on Nokia Phone , but i can't because in Series 40 devices the MIDlet needs to be signed to a manufacturer or operator domain; otherwise the property will be null.

Now, how can i request 1 signed or certified from Nokia, is it free or not ?

    Thanks,
    Thanh

Re: How can i request 1 signed or certified from Nokia ?

    Hello thanhlnh,

unfortunately it is not possible to acquire manufacturer signing for a 3rd party application. The application would need to be owned by Nokia as minimum requirement in order to acquire the signing.

On the other hand, the latest Series 40 devices which support Java Runtime 1.0.0 for Series 40 have opened several system properties for acquiring Nokia system information including cell ID and IMEI. For more information, you might want to check these:

Java Developer's Library 3.11 > Introduction to Java ME > New features in Java Runtime 1.0.0 for Series 40:

    http://library.developer.nokia.com/i...5CC29F94F.html

Series 40 devices which include Java Runtime 1.0.0 for Series 40:

    http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devic...vaRuntime1.0.0

So yes, those devices can access cell ID and IMEI without the manufacturer signing.

EDIT: for testing the above with an SDK emulator, you can download the latest Nokia SDK for Java 1.1 Beta which can found from here (under 'Featured downloads'): https://projects.developer.nokia.com/NokiaSDKJava

On the SDK emulator, you can configure the System Properties settings from Tools -> Preferences.
