    GPS: Conn. Failed. Access Denied.

    Hi.

I created my app. and built a signed sisx file with a development certificate.

My app. runs fine in both WINSCW Emulator and in Nokia C7-00 phone.

The problem is when I try to access the GPS in my phone from my app., I get the following message:
    Conn. Failed. Access Denied.

I have the following lines in my project (.pro) file:
    Code:
    ...

    QT += core \
        gui \
        network

    ...

    CONFIG += mobility \
        systeminfo

    MOBILITY += location

    ...

        TARGET.CAPABILITY = Location \
            ReadUserData \
            WriteUserData \
            ReadDeviceData \
            WriteDeviceData

    ...
I searched the community board to get some clues, but I couldn't find anything usefull.

    Any fixes/solutions/suggestions?

do you have Developer certificate ?
I think something is related with signing issue.

This code example is tested in E7, check this : http://developer.qt.nokia.com/wiki/R...ng_Qt_Mobility

I disabled them in "Settings\Phone\Positioning\Positioning Method", I only enabled GPS.
Ofcourse I tried and enabled all of them. My SIM card has a data plan (GPRS/EDGE/3*G) and there is a Wi-Fi profile for my home Wi-Fi access point, but I still get the same message.

I have a Publisher ID and a verified SymbianSigned account. I reserved some UIDs there and used one of them in my project. then I added my phone's IMEI number and downloaded the development certificate to sign my sis file with it.

I will try the example and report back.

    Code:
    C:\Symbian\Carbide\Workspace\MyProject>signsis -o MyProject.sisx

    Primary:
Issued by TC TrustCenter Class 2 L1 CA XII.
    Issued to MyCompany.
    Valid from 15/11/2011 to 15/11/2012.

    My development environment:
    - Windows 7 Home Premium
    - Carbide.c++ 3.3
    - Symbian^3 SDK 1.0

Re: GPS: Conn. Failed. Access Denied.

I compiled the examplet without changing anything and signed it with development certificate then installed it.

It gives the same error message:
    Conn. Failed. Access Denied.

Now I am thinking of resetting the phone or getting another phone to try it on.

It gives the same error in a balloon at the top left of the screen:
    Conn. Failed.
    Access Denied.

"Connection failed" means your phone could not make any contact with network.

Check your GPRS or 3G network.

Re: GPS: Conn. Failed. Access Denied.

The only selected method for positioning is GPS, everything else is disabled. So a 3G connection shouldn't be required, even if it is required, I have it and it works fine when I am browsing the internet.

I get this message baloon right when I start the app.

Here are the steps I used for compiling RetrieveLocation example:
1- Create a Qt Window project.
2- Replace source code with the example.
    3- Compile (no errors).
4- Run in emulator (no errors, no location retrieved).
5- Compile with GCCE (lots of SDK warnings, but no errors).
6- Sign with development certificate generated for my mobile.
7- Send via bluetooth to mobile.
    8- Install SISX package (successfull).
9- Run app. (runs okay, but the message baloon popups and no location retrieved).
