    It depends on the phone model (and its operating system), whether MIDlet in the background can continue executing. What phone models did you have in mind for your application?

    for series 40 it is not possible to run it in background
    in case of series 60 just use Display.setCurrent(null)
    to place in background...

    Thank you. What I want is when the red button( the END button ) is pressed, the app will not close. My os is S60^5 or S60^3. Is it possible?

    This can be achieved by using the following JAD attribute and value in the JAD file:

    Nokia-MIDlet-No-Exit: true

    It is supported since S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 devices.
