Where does the default photo application store image thumbnails ? Is is accessible from other application ? I want to open gallery as part of Qt application and select an image.

You could check the file system with any 3rd party file manager, anyway the folder names could indeed vary, as well as there is chance that there could be no additional thumbnails at all, since the thumbnails could also be stored within the image metadata as well.

You may want to check the MGFetch API (MG=Media Gallery), it can restrict itself to images, shows a list with thumbnails and filenames, and produces the selection when it returns.

In case of MGFetch or PathInfo::EImagesThumbnailPath also good to be aware of known issues.
