    Re: How to avoid Panic KERN-EXEC 3 and why this panic occurs

    This is getting pointless really, we have already discussed this same issue with you plenty of times. So what about checking the odler threads first, and seeing what has been suggested before opening any new threads.

    As usual, you can't fix a problem until you find it. Set a breakpoint in your application's entry point and from there debug until you see the panic (and a bit after that). And if your application used to work just fine until now, retrace your changes back to the original, you'll see which of them is the responsible one.

    when I try to debug the following message is shown as below:

    Target request failed: TRKProtocolPlugin : Unable to open communications port (Port may be used by another application or selected port may not be available.).

    You could always try file based debugging as well.

    As said/suggested in your other thread, try debugging it on emulator first, it would be a lot easier.

    Vineet referred to the debugging on the emulator.

    This problem cannot be solved remotely by suggestions apart from one that only debugging will give you an idea of where its creating problem. Regardless of many of your own threads stating the same/similar problem invoking the similar suggestion of debugging (assuming that you really did some debugging over the past year and a half almost that you have been seen working on this platform), you should be equipped to follow the same procedure to find the root cause of the problem rather than start new threads as often as you have been doing.

    Only solution to your problem : debugging on emulator(if the same crash is seen on emulator), else you will have to refer to the older threads to find the solution for your On device debugging failures, which have been often discussed to great lenghts

    Thank you for your suggestions. I have tried now t debug on Emulator. The emulator got started for some time and closed by itself after few secs. My application did not start up on

    emulator too.

    Re: How to avoid Panic KERN-EXEC 3 and why this panic occurs

    When running the emulator, did you select to run the Epoc.exe, instead of your own application executable ? Basically the emulator should start normally, and after it has started you would go and find your icon and click to run it, thus if it exits before that, then you have some additional problems in your development environment.

    yes, as already suggested now put debug points in the constructL() of Appui & start debugging & see till where your code gets executed.

    Re: How to avoid Panic KERN-EXEC 3 and why this panic occurs

    How to put those debug points can u please explain?

    I have these in ConstuctL()

    BaseConstructL(CAknAppUi::EAknEnableSkin);

    // Create view object
    iAppView = CPLACEADSAppView::NewL(ClientRect());

    // Create a file to write the text to
    TInt err = CCoeEnv::Static()->FsSession().MkDirAll(KFileName);
    if ((KErrNone != err) && (KErrAlreadyExists != err))
    {
    return;
    }

    RFile file;
    err = file.Replace(CCoeEnv::Static()->FsSession(), KFileName, EFileWrite);
    CleanupClosePushL(file);
    if (KErrNone != err)
    {
    CleanupStack::PopAndDestroy(1); // file
    return;
    }

    RFileWriteStream outputFileStream(file);
    CleanupClosePushL(outputFileStream);
    outputFileStream << KText;

    CleanupStack::PopAndDestroy(2); /

    Re: How to avoid Panic KERN-EXEC 3 and why this panic occurs

    If adding a breakpoint to your UI's ConstructL() does not seem to make a difference you can always put a breakpoint in some piece of code that is executed before the ConstructL, say as early as

    Code:
    GLDEF_C TInt E32Main()
        {
        return EikStart::RunApplication(NewApplication);
        }
    But as said already earlier, if the crahs happens so soon after start, and before your ConstructL is called, you should inspect your resource files and the UIDs used, some recent edit there may be causing this problem. For example some resource code inserted before resource file's signature ...
