    Chainfire 3D For Symbian Phone.

    Hello Developers,
In Android Phones like Samsung Galaxy without GPU they can run HD Games with Chainafire 3D but there is no Symbian Application to run HD Games on Nokia Symbian Phones (Like Nokia 500).So these phones at most likely same rate of Samsung Galaxy Android phones can't Run HD games .So, Please Symbian Developers, develop a Application like Chainafire 3D for Symbian Phones .

Re: Chainafire 3D For Symbian Phone.

It is not possible. HD games in the Store are designed for touch-enabled devices, with recent Symbian OS variants (Symbian^3 or later). The N82 and N95 are non-touch enabled devices running older Symbian software. Also, the N95 has hardware accelerated 3D, so it would not benefit from software emulation.
Right now the Nokia 500 is one of a kind (device running Symbian^3 or later, but without hardware accelerated Open GL), it is not feasible to create any emulation software for a single phone. If someone wants HD games from Nokia Store, she or he should pick any other current Symbian device.

Symbian phones, even without 3D hardware acceleration (GPU, Graphics Processing Unit) have software rendering OpenGL ES APIs (slower, but let's you do 3D without 3D hardware).

The OpenGL ES is also supported from Java.

There also game development kits with their own libraries for Symbian, and those might also work without 3D hardware; see, e.g., Marmalade (formerly known as AirPlay, by Ideaworks3D).

All the current Symbian devices (and probably also those Nokia still going to release in the future, too) use, more or less, the same display resolution (360x640 pixels), so "HD" in the sense of "High-Definition" makes no sense in the context of games for Symbian based devices, if they've all written to use the same display resolution.

2D or 3D hardware graphics acceleration also has really nothing to do with "HD", because it has nothing to do with the display resolution either, but whether there is hardware assisted functionality for drawing operations. Whatever 2D or 3D APIs are available on/for Symbian, they're also available for the Nokia 500, but since it only has 2D hw acceleration support, 3D has to be done through a software rendering library, which is there already, if the game uses OpenGL.

So, you can run any "HD game" in the Nokia 500, which uses the same APIs as it would on any other Nokia Symbian/S60 phone, but if the game counts on 3D hardware acceleration, it probably will not run well, unless the game developer has done a good job in making sure that the app also work without 3D hw.

And in any case, the app has to be developed specifically for Symbian or it has to be a Java game developed for the 360x640 display resolution (which is a resolution that by today's definitions is nothing near anything that could be called "HD").

in nokia 500 you can't play pes2011hd , realfoot2010hd , Asphalt 6adrenaline HD , The Sims 3 HD....... the solution is not to play bad java graphics games or those 2 bad symbian graphics games ( Prince of Persia HD v1.00 , asphalt4hd ) . The solution is an emulator for hd games like Chainafire 3D In Android Phones

Re: Chainafire 3D For Symbian Phone.

As said in #2, the Nokia 500 is the Symbian^3 device which does not play HD games. Any other Symbian^3 product does. I understand that it is the cheapest one too (http://www.whatmobile.com.pk/Nokia_500 and http://www.whatmobile.com.pk/Nokia_603 says that the 603 costs 42% more), but it has a reason.

Since this is a developer site it is definitely worth mentioning that replacing a system component (like the OpenGL subsystem) on a Symbian^3 device requires paid technical support from Nokia, and the highest level of signing.
    - technical support: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Resources/Support/, EUR 99 per question
    - Publisher ID for Symbian Signed: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...._Publisher_ID, USD 200 per year
    - Certified Signed: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...rtified_Signed, EUR 230 per signing
Even if you say the Publisher ID can be used for other projects too, development costs for this particular project start at USD 450. That is the price of 3 Nokia 500-s (by the way, you can say 4, because developing such application certainly needs the presence of a Nokia 500). And this would be a single-device project, targeting the Nokia 500 only. Which is not a gamer device anyway, so most users would buy, even need the application. The feasibility of this project is questionable.

Question Chainfire 3D for Nokia 500

Please Developers I am requesting all of you to develop any application like Chainfire 3D which is for Android. I have Nokia 500 and I like playing Games but NO HD Games are supported in it. Samsung Galaxy Y which also don't have 3D GPU can play using Chainfire 3D but why don't it. Nokia 500 even has more resolution then Samsung Galaxy and Nokia Care (Twitter) has advice me to give a feedback and developers will defiantly make like this application. Please make a application for us like Chainfire 3D. Don't make us feel like we have mistaken to choose NOKIA for our Mobile Phone. Thanks

Re: Chainfire 3D for Nokia 500

I would suggest you to contact the original developer of teh chainfire, and ask them to port their application to the platforms you would want to see them.
