    HTTP Acces via port numbers?

    I'm working with a HttpConnection class requesting away. It's all working fine, except when I attempt to make a request specifying a port number. Surely it's possible to request via ports other than 80 ('course I'm not actually specifying 80 in the successfuly requests, it's just the default)?

    By extension, does this mean that there's a problem using secure connections with SSL on some phones?

    Any ideas?

    If you are connecting via a gateway, then many cellular provider configure their gateways to block anything that is not directed at port 80.

    Http Help

    hi
    could you plz help me in HttpConnection class

    Could you tell me how exactly the http requset will be passed to server, when i try HttpConnection.GET or POST.
    Because im NOT able to download any page from my midlet, im getiing You don't have Authorization [error].

    Is there any way to pass authorization header value in my request.

    And does these request by any chance goes thru WAP gateway or direct to web servers[HTML].

    And my 3650 says java.io.IOException : status = -20019
    I found that this is a symbian error code which states Authorization Failed error under (WAP Error Category).

    Could any one help me out solving this problem and tell me how to download my requested page from my midlet.

    barryler you don;t give enough information about your problem.
    Your configuration and a code fragment would help.

    I'm gonna guess that the "Authorisation" message is not an http failure, but actually a GPRS authentication error. Is your phone provisioned for GPRS, do you have GPRS working for WAP or any other applications ?

    Http Problem

    Hi , Thanx for your reply.

    I tried connecting to http://www.google.com as

    HttpConnection con = Connector.open("http://www.google.com");
    InputStream is = con.openInputStream();
    //for reding content
    while(...){
    .
    .
    .
    }

    Im trying in Nokia 3650 phone with GPRS enabled .As im able to browse to www.google.com and rest pages thru the default browser.

    Im always getting error as :
    You are unauthorized to view this page(HTML).

    could you please tell me what kind of request is it if im trying to connect thru HttpConnection class from my MIDlet. Because my network provider does NOT support WAP.

    I mean is it HTTP request generated from MIDlet or an WAP request.

    How to make Http request ?
