    RTSP Problem on Asha 311

    Hi All,

    I've been developing a RTSP app for Asha 311. I am using platform request to call rtsp url.
    The problem is the RTSP url cannot be played with error message "Video format not supported".
    It was using mp4 video formats. I've tried to print the supported rtsp content type with some apps using these lines of codes:

    Code:
    String rtsp[] = Manager.getSupportedContentTypes("rtsp");
                if (rtsp != null && rtsp.length > 0) {
                    append("RTSP protocol supported:\n");
    			 for(int i = 0;i<rtsp.length;i++){
    			   append(rtsp[i] + "\n");
    			 }
                }
    I run the code in the device and it shows that Asha 311 support for:
    Code:
    application/octet-stream
    video/3gpp
    video/3gp
    application/3gp
    video/3gpp2
    video/mp4
    video/x-msvideo
    I wonder why can my rtsp link cannot be played because it returns that mp4 streaming are already supported by the device. Also I still don't know what the different between application/3gp vs video/3gp. Does that mean i can only call platformRequest for 3gp format?

    We then tried to provide 3gp format for the rtsp url. And turns out the problem now, the device keep saying "Not enough bandwidth, Quality less than normal".
    Is there anyone have faced the same problem?
    How to solve this?

    Really appreaciate for your future help.

    ---
    Regards,
    Ray Rizaldy

    I don't have an answer for this but please keep in mind that by calling the platformRequest and providing a stream-url it will start up the native music-player... how that one is implemented (which codecs it "supports") does not necessarily map completely with what the underlying platform actually supports (thus the list you published which is called through j2me api calls)...

    Hi tiger,

    I've tested to stream youtube rtsp url (it uses 3gp format), and it plays the video stream well.
    Based on that my team tried to convert the mp4 rtsp to be available on 3gp format. The problem is, the real player (which called by platformRequest) have a "Not enough bandwidth, Quality less than normal" error message.
    Is there any spesific rtsp 3gp format that can be played in Asha 311?

    ickroo, there was a firmware update for the Nokia 311 recently. Did that help?
    MP4 is just an container format. What did you use within that? MPEG4, which profile, version, etc.
