    Symbian S60^3 SDK error

    Hi...
I download symbian s60^3 SDK and install it properly like its installation guide said... then I try test by build "hello world" with WINSCW and give result:

    Code:
    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\group>sbs -c winscw_udeb for WINSCW

    Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
    (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Computer>cd C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\e
    xamples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\group

    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\gr
    oup>sbs -c winscw_udeb for WINSCW
sbs: error: Could not read variant configuration file C:/epoc32/tools/variant/va
riant.cfg (No such file or directory)

    sbs : warnings: 0
    sbs : errors: 1

    built 'winscw_udeb'

    Run time 5 seconds

    sbs: build log in C:/epoc32/build/Makefile.2012-12-24-23-50-03.log

    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\gr
    oup>
then I try build with GCCE 4.4.1 and the result like this :

    Code:
    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\group>sbs -c armv5_urel_gcce4_4_1

    Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
    (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Computer>cd C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\e
    xamples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic

    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic>cd
     group

    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\gr
    oup>sbs -c armv5_urel_gcce4_4_1
sbs: error: Could not read variant configuration file C:/epoc32/tools/variant/va
riant.cfg (No such file or directory)

    sbs : warnings: 0
    sbs : errors: 1

    built 'armv5_urel_gcce4_4_1'

    Run time 14 seconds

    sbs: build log in C:/epoc32/build/Makefile.2012-12-24-23-45-29.log

    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\gr
    oup>
I think both GCCE and WINSCW didn't know where is path EPOCROOT, so I add C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0; to environment variables and named it as EPOCROOT. After that i try build again, it works but give another error comment like this:

    Code:
    C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\examples\symbian\gui\helloworldbasic\gr
    oup>sbs -c winscw_udeb

I spent my 2 days read and learn installation guide and other reference from googling but still did'nt work...
    I really need assistance

    Re: Symbian S60^3 SDK error

SBS evolved back and forth a lot, practically I have no idea what environment variables you should really set, but there are a couple things you may want to check:
    - old-school devices. Issue a devices command from a command line, and see if Symbian^3 is marked as default or not. If not, devices -setdefault @Symbian3:com.nokia.s60 should help that part
    - SBS own variables, there are a couple of them. Check http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...ymbian%5E3_SDK, though it is an old article
    - also, C:\Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\gcce_readme.txt shows some settings
    - by the way GCCE: it is not installed, unless you install it, so install it before using
    - by the way build targets: compiler for the emulator target is not present in the SDK, it comes with Carbide.c++, so install that one too if you want to build for the emulator
    - EPOCROOT has to be (as the last message says in your post) an absolute path, without drive letter, like \Nokia\devices\Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v1.0\ (it has to point to a location where an epoc32 folder resides) - it also means that the SDK works on a single drive, so your projects has to reside on the same drive in the future

    Did your project use
    C:/epoc32/tools/variant/variant.cfg?
