Re: How to deploy to device using gnu/linux host using USB ? or without BT support ?

While I have never seen any Asha devices, based on the recent thread http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...-fails-silenty, I assume there is a file manager which may help with installing. This way the question could be reduced to transferring files. Perhaps there is a way to access the phone as mass storage device (like in the case of Symbian), or there is a memory card.
Well, now as I have checked, I do not see such device as Nokia Asha 301, but the Nokia 301 seems to have memory card.

To wizard_hu: That was my thread, yes, on Asha we have something like a file manager. My thread was about installing a published app from the store with the Nokia Suite. Nokia has a serious usability problem there. If you know somebody at Nokia who can change something there, please report it.

    But back to Mr. RZR.
Webapps are deployed to the "cloud", on the phone there is only a starter. As a fall back, you can just put the url into the phone browser.
    See http://www.developer.nokia.com/Resou...o-a-phone.html

Bluetooth is also working with Unix, and a bluetooth stick is not expensive. It is nice to have when you work with phone, if only to quickly transfer a picture.
I just don't know if the deployment from the Nokia WDE is also working from Linux.

    Regards

Whoops, yeah, I completely forgot that the context is about WebApps.
They are actually not deployed to your phone. It often creates some confusion indeed, a related question was the featured one just two weeks ago for example (http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...l=1#post917064). As the announcement suggests, the FAQ (http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...web_apps_-_FAQ) can be a good reading for anyone interested in Series 40 WebApps.

Re: How to deploy to device using gnu/linux host using USB ? or without BT support ?

On this preferences page you should see a check box:
"Show short URL dialog when no device is connected"
You need to check this checkbox.

Then when you press deploy, the package is uploaded to "the cloud", and also you will see an URL.
You can need to type this url into the phone browser.

    Hope this helps

I tested on windows , the BT stack seems to work and it is actually deploying to device ... not on GNU/Linux ... why the radio button is shown if it does not work ... where to report bug on WDE ?
