Post Running a GPS based app in the background - constant refresh

    Hi everyone,

I am currently working on a GPS location based app for windows phone 8. From what I've read, the app is called every 15 minutes if it is running in the background and is suspended after that until the next call. Is there any way to decrease this time interval because I need to get the users current location at more frequent intervals provided the app is running in the background?

Also, what will be the concerns with regard to battery life if these calls to the app can be made more frequent?

    Hi,

As usual, running such background services will drain your battery. Take a look at Background Location Services on MSDN for more info: How to continuously track the phone's location for Windows Phone 8 and How to run location-tracking apps in the background for Windows Phone 8.

    Cheers

In Windows Phone 8 your app can run in background for using Geolocation services. In This mode, the app simply don't close when you navigate away and is continuosly executed and receiving GPS events. You can see more info on This topic here:

    Hope This help.

As I know Background task can run every 30 minutes at least on Windows Phone apps not 15 Minutes, is that wrong?

Ordinary background tasks do have such limitation. But for geolocation enabled applications you have special background tasks that can work continuously. Check out the links provided in my first reply.
