Question Nokia maps offline content shared?

    Hi,
with WP8 it is possible to save maps for offline usage. Is this content shared for all apps using the map control? Or is it necessary that each app which uses the map control downloads the map tiles to his own isolated storage for offline use?

AFAIK there is central storage for maps data, its also used by the Drive & Maps applications.

Ok, sounds good. Does "only" the official Nokia maps are saved in the central storage or also all other TileSources (OpenStreetMap) the map control can load from? Perhaps another app also wants to use OpenStreetMap-map tiles, then it would make sense to share equal TileSources.
By the way, the "official" Nokia maps are vector data or bitmap tiles?

I would not know actually about the other tile sources, thus could not comment on it.

You may want to look at creating an overlay using something like the TileSource class. I would suggest you should check the legal position of your source to ensure that the tile sources you use are acceptable within the terms and conditions of the provider, have appropriate attribution and so on. This is not a problem if you are using your own tile source of course.

The Nokia maps on WP8 are created using on board vector data - this gives you the ability to pitch the map and view it at an angle, or rotate the map - you can't do this with a standard tile source.
