    Hi,
    Unfortunately, you cannot. Saving videos is not possible in Windows Phone 7 nor in Windows Phone 8. You can save only images so far.

    As you cannot save video to the media library (Pictures) on the phone, you could save the video to Isolated Storage - but that is not accessible from outside the app.

    Video content created within an app must also be viewed in that app - a number of apps in the Marketplace have this disadvantage.

    For more on Isolated Storage, look here: http://www.geekchamp.com/tips/all-ab...olated-storage

    Re: Can i save video to CameraRoll?

    Is there ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to do it? Can it be done using C++ runtime code? What is a problem with saving video files? I personally don't see much difference with pictures or songs, they are just bigger. Then, it seems like Nokia developers have extended access to the Windows Phone API looking at the created applications. Is it possible to get extended access for other developers? Is saving video can be done through that API? I guess it can. After all media library is just a location in the storage. Nobody removed low level API methods like CopyFile which most likely is just restricted for most mortals but not for Nokia or Microsoft developers.

    Thanks

    No, there is absolutely no way to do it currently with Windows Phone 8 (or 7). It doesn't matter what language you use either (C++, C#, etc) - they are all limited by the same API access to the MediaLibrary.

    Obviously, we all hope this will improve with future updates to the platform - but we're not likely to see that until early next year.

    The ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_VIDEO is documented since WP8 released but never worked.
    it is suppose to let us access the camera roll video library.

    It is documented here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...v=vs.105).aspx but not way to use it.
    Nokia some how managed to do this with them video tools.

    More details... The ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_VIDEO is not avaliable

    Capability 7.1 ID_MEDIALIB
    8.0 Replaced with one or more of the following:

    •ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_AUDIO

    •ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_VIDEO

    •ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_PHOTO

    So, you joined the forum just to reply to an old thread from 3 months ago that was already answered?

    Unless you have new information (with proof) please don't.

    Nokia have special access to APIs that we do not.

    You can with a Windows Phone 8.1 XAML app. For a demo, try MovieJax...

    I did some googling,found some code and gave them a try. It worked! WP8.1,finally. Thank you,theothernt.
    Code:
    using Windows.Storage;
    using Windows.Storage.Streams;

    StorageFile sourceFile = await ApplicationData.Current.LocalFolder.GetFileAsync("isolatedfile.mp4");
    StorageFile destinationFile = await KnownFolders.CameraRoll.CreateFileAsync("cameraroll.mp4");

    using (var sourceStream = await sourceFile.OpenReadAsync())
    {
    	using (var sourceInputStream = sourceStream.GetInputStreamAt(0))
    	{
    		using (var destinationStream = await destinationFile.OpenAsync(FileAccessMode.ReadWrite))
    		{
    			using (var destinationOutputStream = destinationStream.GetOutputStreamAt(0))
    			{
    				await RandomAccessStream.CopyAndCloseAsync(sourceInputStream, destinationStream);
    			}
    		}
    	}
    }

    Thank you for providing the sample code that worked for you. I'm certain many people can benefit from that.
