    Question nokia music not available in this locale? (Music Explorer Sample)

    When I run the Music Explorer Sample in the Emulator using VS2012, the app loads fine but I get an error message that says "Sorry, Nokia music is not available in this locale.", and the main screen says:

    "No local songs available for creating favourites list. Favourites list shows 20 artists with the most played songs."
    Is this normal, or is there something else I need to do to prep the sample app so that it is initialized with sample data? I'm in the USA.

    The app is functional, but as I scroll horizontally and click on the category links, nothing appears. Then I did something and got the following error message:

    "Missing necessary data to browse artist info. Please wait for a while and try again. If the problem persists, ensure the device is connected to the Internet and restart the application."

    Re: nokia music not available in this locale? (Music Explorer Sample)

    Hello roschler,
    (There is a section special for Nokia Music "Nokia Music Windows Phone Api", I think a moderator will move this thread later)

    I did not try the Explorer Sample, but just a wild guess :

    Maybe the region isn't detected in the emulator, try setting the region manually in the MainPage in the method ReverseGeocodeQuery_QueryCompleted.
    Code:
    InitializeNokiaMusicApi("en");
    hope it helps
    Yassine,

    Re: nokia music not available in this locale? (Music Explorer Sample)

    Hello Yassine,

    Thanks for replying. I tried both "en" and "us":

    // ATI: Setting this manually due to problems with locale.
    // InitializeNokiaMusicApi(twoLetterCountryCode);
    // InitializeNokiaMusicApi("en");
    InitializeNokiaMusicApi("us");

    Same problem, no change. Note, the value that twoLetterCountryCode changed before changing the code was "us".

    One other concern. When I first ran the app I did not set the app name and token to my app name and token. Yet I received no warnings or error messages. I have since set those constants to the correct app name and token, but I would have expected an error if they were not set correctly.

    Have you tested your network connection of the emulator? If you open the browser, can you open www.bing.com for example? Or http://developer.nokia.com ?

    Hello João,

    Thank you for replying. Internet connectivity is fine. I just did a search for dog photos on Bing from inside the emulator and it worked properly.

    Re: nokia music not available in this locale? (Music Explorer Sample)

    Hello everyone,

    Sorry for the confusion! Chalk it up to 5 AM coding and too many assumptions. It turns out it was an API credentials Exception. To make a long story short, I never thought to click through from the API registration summary page to get to the detail page for my app. I was using my app name and app ID instead of my app ID and my app token (AppCode) for my credentials. Once I did that and used the correct values the sample worked fine.

    It might save Nokia a few wrong-headed support requests like mine if they put the app token (AppCode) on the summary page next to the App ID.

    Thanks to all of you that replied to this thread.
