I am new to J2ME and i am working on Nokia S40 and using rms database. I have to store 8000 records in Recordstore rms database so i don't have any idea how much data it can store in memory.

If RMS dies pretty soon, make sure that you close it properly.
The stability of RMS varies a lot between device models, the most robust approach is to re-write a new RMS from scratch whenever you have to modify it. So it is not exactly a reliable database.
