How to play music in "background"

I mean to ask how to play music in background, as in playing music with a closed midlet.
Is this, by any means possible? Can I somehow access the native media manager, and start playing a file, and then close the application (or just lock the screen), having the music playing in the background?

I know how to play a single mp3 file, but a media application is quite useless if you can only listen to music with the player in the foreground...

    Thanks in advance!

You may succeed to do something with platformRequest and file: URI scheme, see http://www.developer.nokia.com/Resou...n-java-me.html - however this URI variant may work on a limited set of devices only.

Some devices lets you do Display.setCurrent(null) in order to put the MIDlet into the background. I know Sony Ericsson devices support this. Not sure about Nokia, but you can try it.
