Please help with writing a script or macro command on symbian belle

    hello
I have a nokia n8 with symbian belle os.
Please help with writing a script or macro command will perform delete a file and then copy the folder to another path and overwrite the files
All this as a single icon click on Symbian.

I'm looking for something similar to the BAT file in windows os.
    Example:

    del filename.x c:\
copy f:\xxx e:\xxx (overwrite files in the folder)

    thanks
    entons

There are no such functionality available with Symbian OS. Thus you would actually need to write a program that does the stuff wanted.

Also do remember the platform security, especially the data caging when designing the app.

    Thanks for your reply.
Do I need to write a program and then compile to a sis file?
How do I do this? Is it possible with QT?

Yes, in order to get the application installed into the device you would need to make installation (sis) file for the app. And sure you can use Qt for developing it, though I can anot remember whether there is really usable Qt APIs for the tasks, and if there is none, you can of course mix Symbian C++ into the Qt project code.

For something like this you can probably take a look at pyS60 or m-shell. Both are scripting engines and can compile to sis files. The following links may be of interest to you:

    http://www.m-shell.net/documentation...m_scripts.html

But if you have the time I strongly urge you to learn QML and write the app using Nokia's QT SDK. Future proof.
