    Font size issue

    Hi everybody!

There are there types of sizes:

    SMALL
    MEDIUM
    LARGE

According to the Nokia guidelines, the font size must be 18pt with one row list items. I'm using the LARGE size, but my app was rejected. So, the LARGE size is not the correct.

Can some body tell me the correct type for a 18pt. font size?

    Best Regards,

    Hi, Minirich.

This is not an answer, but another question: Was your app rejected specifically because you used the LARGE size in fonts ? If so, were you using that size in all the text included in the app, or just in specific parts (titles, for example) ?

Thanks. Your answers might save me from an app rejection...

    Re: Font size issue

I just had a chat with publishing support, and they told me there is no restriction on the font size, and it is not a reason to reject apps. According to them, the only restriction is that one cannot use Nokia logos or fonts without permission.

It would be great if you could share the exact reason the QA team gave you for the app rejection.

The issue is just with the lists.

I suppose their argument is the font size section[1] in the Nokia resources. One of the Nokia wizards, shared the link[2] to customized the fonts, but now my question is, and perhaps you know it, can we use any font family?, or there is a special font family that we must to use.

    Best regards,

The link you shared points to the design "guidelines", which I think should not be the base for QA certification, and according to the person I chatted with, font size is not a reason for rejection. Did they tell you specifically that your app was rejected because of the font size? Can you share that part of their rejection notification?

I think the answer would be something like "yes, as long as you can guarantee that the font will be available in all devices", but that is just my opinion. I would recommend to ask them directly.

You can use the chat service here: Publishing your app (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

You can use any font size and family you want (as long as you have the legal rights to do so) and just for future reference if your app fails QA and you come to ask a question relating to it on the DiBo i suggest you paste the Fail message you received.

Ok, the message is the next:

Please notice that the text in all one row list items has 14pt font size.
Note: According to Nokia S40 Full Touch Design Guidelines the font size for one row list items is 18pt.
Note re-review#1: The issue is still reproducible. The list items font size is now approximately 15.5pt

The app is under review right now.

    Re: Font size issue

I'm not sure this is a font size issue, but maybe a list row item height issue, because i have apps & games with fonts (not in a list) that is ever smaller than 12pt.
Maybe you need to add some padding below & above your text to make the list row item a bit bigger.

    BR,
Hi have you tested your app using a device? how did it looked? Alternatively, you may want to test your app in RDA at https://developer.nokia.com/Devices/...device_access/

    Re: Font size issue

I don't like the fact that in the publishing support chat I was told that the only restriction regarding fonts was that one should not use Nokia fonts (or any other proprietary fonts for that matter) without explicit permission from the owner, and that there was no restriction on font sizes, but the QA team is rejecting applications because of the font sizes being used. If one cannot trust what is being said on that chat service, then there is no point in using it.

Can someone from Nokia help us escalate this one?

    Re: Font size issue

It seems that there is no way to change anything in the title bar for lwuit forms and although well off, there is no way to manage fonts in pt's

I can only edit in pixels rather than points in the resource editor?
