    unfortunately there are no APIs for 3rd party developers which would enable any background processing.

    Re: Running a background application in s40 plattform.

    Hi,

    I am using the push registry, register alarm to wake up my application at particular time . I want to register alarm when user exit or closes the application in Nokia Asha 501 device. So, I am invoking a method 'registerAlarmTimer()' to register the alarm. So that it will relaunched after defined time but it is not working. Following are the code snippet, the concrete implementation of command action method :

    public void commandAction(Command command, Displayable displayable) {
    if (command == EXIT_COMMAND) {
    registerTimerAlarm(timePeriodToAutoStart);
    notifyDestroyed(); /* When I comment this statement then alarm get register successfully but it creates problem in back and exit action*/
    } else if (command == REGISTER_CONNECTION_COMMAND) {
    // create a new Thread here and call the registerSMSConnection
    registerSMSConnection();
    } else if (command == UNREGISTER_CONNECTION_COMMAND) {
    unregisterSMSConnection();
    } else if (command == REGISTER_TIMER_ALARM_COMMAND) {

    registerTimerAlarm(timePeriodToAutoStart);

    }else if (command== BACK_COMMAND){
    notifyDestroyed();
    registerTimerAlarm(timePeriodToAutoStart);
    notifyDestroyed(); /* When I comment this statement then alarm get register successfully but it creates problem in back and exit action*/
    }
    }

    Also if user is closing application by Long Pressing the back button in Asha 501 ( Since it has only physical button), The alar does't get registered.
