    Post how to create dependent choice group in j2me

    I wish any one could help me in solving the problem.

    I want to use choiceGroup.popup. But want to make a

    dependent choiceGroup.popup.
    eg.

    category , subcategory and inner subcategory .

    When i choose electronics from category then from sub

    category all electronic item should be seen and
    when i choose one electronic item then in inner

    subcategory specific item of that sub category should be

    shown.

    How to do that. what to use, in web we use Ajax but in

    j2me all devices may not support ajax. so need a helping

    hand to solve this problem.

    Thank you.

    Thumbs up Re: how to create dependent choice group in j2me

    U can do that in JAVA ME but not in the tree format. U have to set itemstatelistener to the form to which choicegroup is appended. In itemstatechanged method u have to maintain the state of choicegroup. like this:

    Code:
      public void itemStateChanged(Item item) {
            if (item == DATA_TYPE_LIST) {
                switch (DATA_TYPE_LIST.getSelectedIndex()) {
                    case 0:
                        // show another menu..
                        break;
                    case 1:
                         // show another menu..
                        break;
                    case 2:
                        // show another menu..
                        break;
                    case 3:
                        // show another menu..
                        break;
            }
    }
    Now put ur logic what u want to do..

    is this helps u somewhile..

    Also LWUIT has the feature to show menu, submenu in tree form..
    thanks,
    jitu_goldie..

    Re: how to create dependent choice group in j2me

    I am still not able to do it. Plz need some more guidance.

    What i want to do is on my click i would like to open a form which is on edit mode. That i am able to do it. But there i want to create a dependent chiceGroup.popup from which selection of one choiceGroup.pop say "category" should help to open all its sub category and then according to the sub category, its inner sub category should be see.
    And all the content that is the category is fetched from the Mysql database using servlet.

    Just tell me how to work on it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: how to create dependent choice group in j2me

    hhmm.. popup and choicegroup would sound to me liek an alert with a choicegroup.. don't know if that is possible, cause if im not mistaken both are displayables, and only one displayable can be shown at any given time...
    anyone ever tried this ?
    I do know there is no append() method for an Alert so how would you couple a choicegroup on an Alert ?
    Im afraid this wont work, so maybe there is some other way to implement it...

    Can we go step by step?
    Let me clear the scenario of ur application. What is the main screen and from there whats ur next step? Just one step at a time only.

    Hi Kamal. Welcome to the DiBo.

    I would recommend starting a new thread, to make sure your question gets the appropriate attention. Also, if you are asking for help on a problem you are facing, you should be more specific about it.

    If you are just looking for an example, then just take a look at the documentation: LWUIT Developer's Library: ComboBox
