Unable to install java apps on Asha 308, 309 and 310 (RDA)

    Hi.

I'm not sure if this is a known issue, but I didn't find information about it, so if that is the case, just let me know, thank you.

I'm not able to install apps on any Asha 308, 309 or 310 in RDA. I emailed them (ndh.fi@nokia.com) on Jul 25th, but have not had any response yet.

This what I included in the e-mail:

"I'm trying to test a very basic app on some Series 40 DP 2.0 devices, and I've been trying to install the app on several of them (308, 309 and 310s) but after the installation apparently completes, the device disconnects and the app doesn't appear on the device when it reconnects.

I tested it on a 311 and it installed correctly, but coincidentally, that is the only device I don't need to test the app on.

Is this a known issue ?

I've tried this from a Windows 7 x64 machine, and from a Windows 8 x64, both running Java 7 u17 (I can't use the latest Java version because it breaks the Nokia SDK emulators).

    Thanks for your help.
    "

    Any thoughts ?

    Thanks,
    -CarlosDL

I don't know anything about this - is any of the information on the wiki useful for this? RDA_troubleshooting

The RDA team are short staffed but I hope they will get back to you soon. If there is not response in the next day or so I think it would be reasonable to "ping" them again.

Unfortunately not. I think this is an issue with some specific devices.

I will try to contact them again, and see what happens.

    Thank you, Hamish.

Sorry for the delay. I got feedback that this has been escalated, but I have not yet had an ETA on response time. If you don't hear from me by Friday next week can you remind me - and I'll ping them again for an ETA?

I'm sorry about that - I've sent two emails in the last week to the team on this but am still waiting on a response.

This is strange, I can't see anything wrong. There is no reason that you can't install java apps on Asha phones. Are you getting any warning message during installation? I am using Asha 308 and I can install java apps from my windows 7 PC. Also there might be a problem with the apps. A comparison here for you: http://www.techyv.com/questions/noki...nokia-asha-311

Those posts did indeed disappear :-)

Marc, thanks for posting - developers helping other developers is exactly what this site is about. Good to check the answer is relevant to the topic though - this thread is about installation onto the devices RDA (Remote device access) service.

As an aside, this is still in the queue for being fixed. I do not yet have an ETA on when it will be fixed.
