    Unable to add Nokia Imaging SDK Dlls as a reference.

    Installed Nokia Imaging SDK via Nuget.

    Only Nokia.Graphics.Imaging.Managed is added automatically to References. Attempting to manually add Nokia.Graphics.Imaging and Nokia.InteropServices.WindowsRuntime results in the following error message:

    A reference to a higher version or incompatible assembly cannot be added to the project.

    Using Visual Studio Ultimate 2012 with Update 3 installed.

    Already tried the usual suspect i.e. unblocking the dlls.

    Just checking basic stuff but is this a fresh install or an update? Also this is a Windows Phone 8 project right? Because you can target 7.x as well. Just making sure.

    Re: Unable to add Nokia Imaging SDK Dlls as a reference.

    This is a fresh install of the Nokia Imaging SDK into an existing WP8 project.

    My initial mistake was that I was trying to add the dlls instead of the winmds. Rectified that after reading http://developer.nokia.com/Resources...e-project.html.

    But I am still getting an error about not being able to locate the dlls:
    1>C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.Targets(1578,5): warning MSB3245: Could not resolve this reference. Could not locate the assembly "Nokia.Graphics.Imaging". Check to make sure the assembly exists on disk. If this reference is required by your code, you may get compilation errors.

Could not locate the assembly "Nokia.InteropServices.WindowsRuntime". Check to make sure the assembly exists on disk. If this reference is required by your code, you may get compilation errors.

    Creating a brand new project and re-adding all the source code and references seems to rectify the problem.

    Second alternative to your problem is to directly add reference into the CSPROJ file created by system. You can add reference to these files and it will work.

    <ItemGroup>
    <Reference Include="Nokia.Graphics.Imaging">
    <HintPath>..\NokiaImagingSDK\$(Platform)\Nokia.Graphics.Imaging.winmd</HintPath>
    </Reference>
    <Reference Include="Nokia.Graphics.Imaging.Managed">
    <HintPath>..\NokiaImagingSDK\$(Platform)\Nokia.Graphics.Imaging.Managed.dll</HintPath>
    </Reference>
    <Reference Include="Nokia.InteropServices.WindowsRuntime">
    <HintPath>..\NokiaImagingSDK\$(Platform)\Nokia.InteropServices.WindowsRuntime.winmd</HintPath>
    </Reference>
    </ItemGroup>

    If you see in folder, there will be two file .dll and .winmd with the same name. when we try to add dll file we get this error, instead of adding dll add .winmd file in reference.

    the problem is solved

    install the .winmd file in reference instead of .dll files. and run the app in device instead of emulator or else you will need to rebuild app with ARM reference files while submitting ur app's XAP file in windows phone store.
