Question Does Asha 501 support SIP JSR-180?

    Hello,

Does Asha 501 support JSR-180 (SIP API), it's not one of the JSR's mentioned on it's profile page.

If not JSR-180, what is the best choice for P2P communications?

    Thanks,

    Cameron

It probably does not. Mostly Symbian devices used to support it.

Jabber/XMPP may be a choice for example.

    Jabber/XMPP.

Wireless same-physical-room short distance wireless communication?

I'm looking for something that does P2P between two phones in the same room. Anything to support that? Slam?

SIP, Jabber, XMPP all require servers. If you mean "real" P2P, locally, you may want to use Bluetooth. Slam is built on Bluetooth too.

Doesn't bluetooth require manual pairing? -I would like to be able to fire off a bluetooth packet without handshaking and doing the pairing dance.

From the technical point of view, manual pairing is not a requirement of Bluetooth communication. However, some platforms may mandate it, and in fact I do not know the situation with Asha (or Series 40).
