Thumbs down Copy Paste feature Asha 501

    Hello,

Why doesnt Nokia Asha 501, a smartphone (Nokia calls it one), does not support a basic feature like Copy-Paste, which older Nokia phones like the XpressMusic series(eg. 5130) supports. This is a basic feature which I believe the developers MUST get in to this phone. Copying things from the browser to Notes is really an imp. task and now that Asha 501 doesnt support, things get really difficult.

    Regards,
    Nokia Asha 501 USER

I suppose the API would be com.nokia.mid.ui.Clipboard, though as far as I know, it does not really work. Anyway your reference device did indeed have very different OS, thus it had very different set of funcitonality as well.

Re: Copy Paste feature Asha 501

I think Nokia calls it smarterphone, but in fact this entire site is about supporting 3rd party developers. The browser and the notes applications are built-in ones, feedback on them is better provided on the product support site, http://www.nokia.com/discussions - we, here can not do anything with them. Especially since Nokia Asha is not Java-based platform (in contrast to Android), features of built-in applications are not coming from, and neither limited by, Java ME API-s.

Re: Copy Paste feature Asha 501

    Hi,

I tried the test code of com.nokia.mid.ui.Clipboard on Nokia Asha SDK 1.0.
    (same as http://developer.nokia.com/Community...ight=clipboard)
Nokia SDK 2.0 for Java throws java.lang.IllegalAccessException, but Nokia Asha SDK 1.0 seems to be copied text correctly.
It shows system Banner like "XXXXX copied to clipboard.".
But I don't have the method to paste text in clipboard

http://developer.nokia.com/Community...1.1b#Clipboard is an older one, but it says you can put text on clipboard, but can not get it back from code.
