    [moved] get device name in j2me

    Hello,
    i want to get the device name in j2me (for example : Iphone 5,...). for this I use
    Code:
     String platform =  System.getProperty("microedition.platform");
        //score= platform;

        platform = platform.toUpperCase();
        if ((platform.indexOf("J2ME") != -1) || (platform.equalsIgnoreCase("SunMicrosystems_wtk"))) {
        score="SunMicrosystems_wtk"; //EMULATOR
        }else {
       score="Device" ;//Device
        }
    unfortunatly always score ="SunMicrosystems_wtk".

    please tell me how can I fined the name of devoce automaticly one I change the emulator.

    Best regards

    You might want to observe the sub-section in this discussin baord. This section would be for Maps API related discussions, which this appears not to really be.

    Anyway, the wiki page : http://developer.nokia.com/Community...erties_in_MIDP says that microedition.platform should give you the manufacture, and then device version + additional data. Anyway, of course the emulatro might give other stuff there, but in the end, you should check that you get the desired behaviour with real devices.

    Can you check what the value for the emulator you are using is ? basically just use the code you have and simple see what is the string you get there.

    You may want to check with a real device. If you do not have any, you can still use the Remote Device Access service, you can find it via the Devices "menu" above.

    Re: [moved] get device name in j2me

    just try the Devices menu found from teh top of the page. It has the link to remote device acccess service. Try it out, and you should find it rather simple to use.

    Re: [moved] get device name in j2me

    There is no IDE integration as far as I know. RDA is about the testing phase, not the coding part.

    If you mean that you "installed" RDA, but do not know how to use it, the User Guide may be a good start: http://rda.cellulardata.com/userguide_fn/ - for example 3.5 shortly describes the steps how you can install your own code to test.

    Re: [moved] get device name in j2me

    in my project j2me midlet (in j2me sdk 3) I made three steps are
       1-connection with password
       2-reverse giocoding
      3-and now I'm trying to find the device name in this step you suggested I use RDA. my question is :
    how to use the RDA, I don't know if is it mast to redo what I do in j2me project in RDA or I just integrated the RDA project on j2me midlet?????????????.

    Re: [moved] get device name in j2me

    RDA is Remote device access, its just service, which with you can run your code in a real device, and it is used solely for testing purposes. So it wont help you on implementing anything, but will help you to test your code.

    As you had the code for the task ready in the first post, you might want to explain in English on what the problem you are still having is.

    Hi

    You can access RDA service here : https://developer.nokia.com/Devices/...device_access/

    The instructions to use are also available there.

    Regards
    Arun.
