    Nokia Music API

    Hi ,
    I have develop a app for windows phone 8 using Nokia Music API.
    I got the following message from app certification. Is there any way I can specify that this app will run on only nokia device.

    The application exhibits device specific behavior that inhibits functionality and features. The application's main functionality

    cannot be tested on non-NOKIA devices because it requires Nokia Music.

    Re: Nokia Music API

    please try posting your questions under the selected technology or API you are using, this time I move this from Asha webapps section into here.

    Anyway, as you could see the API is intended to be used only with Nokia devices, and if you are running it in a environment which is not a Nokia device, you will be getting the error shown, Thus have you tied running it in a Nokia Device.

    Re: Nokia Music API

    Hello,
    i've had the same problem .... how can it be solved?

    Here is the submission feedback:
    The application exhibits device specific behavior that inhibits functionality and features. The application's main functionality cannot be tested on non-Nokia devices because it requires Nokia Music."
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Launch the application on non Nokia devices.
    2. Select any tile icon.
    3. Observe the user is redirected to the Nokia Music website.

    -
    It seems that no apps that use NokiaMusic launchers can be submitted, this must be a problem.

    Re: Nokia Music API

    I've just made a new release that improves the non-nokia device interaction for mix playback.
    What is the use case you're using the Launchers for?
    Regards,

    Re: Nokia Music API

    I've downloaded MusicAPI a month ago and built an app that gets the artist name from the user, then makes a:
    ShowArtistTask task = new ShowArtistTask();
    task.ArtistName = "Artist_Name";
    task.Show();

    As i wrote, the app has been rejected with this motivation:
    The application exhibits device specific behavior that inhibits functionality and features. The application's main functionality cannot be tested on non-Nokia devices because it requires Nokia Music."
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Launch the application on non Nokia devices.
    2. Select any tile icon.
    3. Observe the user is redirected to the Nokia Music website.

    Is there a solution or should i use code APIs? In this case no app that uses launchers can be submitted..

    Re: Nokia Music API

    The important part is "The application's main functionality cannot be tested on non-Nokia devices". That means that they don't take issue with the feature not being available on Non-Nokia devices. E.g. Runtastic makes use of extended Nokia Music APIs but still passes through certification because playing music is not the primary feature of the App.

    If your App is centered around functionality that uses Nokia Music you run into that problem during certification. Or to state it more clearly: if it's not making sense to use the App if Nokia Music isn't available.

    Re: Nokia Music API

    Upgrade to the new version, there is now a web version for non-Nokia devices if you use:
    ShowArtistTask task = new ShowArtistTask();
    task.ArtistId = "ArtistId";
    task.Show();

    Re: Nokia Music API

    You can do one of the following.
    1. use the Web REST API as a fallback in your own code incase the device isnt a Nokia.
    2. upgrade to the new version as mmehnsr suggest and the task should handle that for you.
