Why we cant use pushregistry like as in Whatsapp in my application

    Hi ,

I am making s40 app and using sdk 2.0 and lwuit 1.5.

When we use WhatsApp on s40 phones(i tried in asha 310), when anybody send us message then by default we get notification and we can open Whatsapp by clicking on view button.
My problem is that when user opens whatsapp each time whenever he receives notification, it never asks for Yes /no to register push registry( Is it push registry only? ) since when i created a demo app and pass milliseconds in push registry , it asks the user to register first and then the alarm is set. In short it is working for me as one time alarm and not as daily alarm.

If Whatsapp is using push registry then why we cant use it as daily alarm ?

    Plz help

I am not sure about this, but I think whatsapp has manufacturer permission for running things the way they want..

WhatsApp does not use PushRegistery they use Nokia Push notification which is a private API on DP2.0 devices but is available to all 3rd party developers on Asha 1.0 and onward devices.

Thats a tall order..I think it is given only to big corporations..not sure of the procedure to ask for one..

Anyways, It is private API for DP2.0 devices only..It is available for all 3rd party developers from Nokia Asha 501 and later.

I think it is not exactly the size, but certainly there should be a business interest from Nokia side too. For example WhatsApp was a well established brand, having some visible customer demand in the Nokia user community prior to actually getting released on Series 40/Asha.

Most of the 3rd party IM apps that works on the DP2.0 platforms do uses the private push notification API, like Nimbuzz, WhatsApp, MXit, Qeep, et.
You can try and contact your local Nokia dev manager to try and get you a business dev contact...
