    Export data from app

    Hello,

My app shows different information in a pivot control list. The user should have the opportunity to save this information to a file on the phone. I've implemented this feature by using the isolated storage.

I can transfer this file out of the isolated storage to my desktop computer by using the ISETool. But will the enduser also be able to export the data to an external device out of the isolated storage?

Currently, it looks as if there is no other possibility to get the file out of the phone as e.g. we can even not write to an SD card...

    Thanks for your feedback!

    Re: Export data from app

The only way to export data from an app is to either...

    a) Use the EmailComposeTask() to send via email
    b) Upload to an external service such as SkyDrive or Dropbox

Note: an end-user cannot use tools like ISETool or the WP Power Tools.

    In Addition to theothernt,

I have a clarification on this, end-user phone is only a user phone and, developer can only use the ISETool with source code only, so there is no point that end user can not use ISETool.

    Re: Export data from app

Thanks for your answers. I'll use the EmailComposeTask() function. Anyway, the only handicap of this function is, that it's not possible to create attachments. So, we have no possibility to create and store a file in the isolated storage and send it from there via email...

Here is a possible work-around you could try, encode the file then add it to the message body...

Another alternative is to use a web service to send your email, and of course if you do that you can attach whatever you like (though you have to upload it first). Some ideas around this approach here on wiki: Azure_Mobile_Services_-_Send_an_email_with_SendGrid
