    WP7 + Bing Maps + China = not allowed?!

I had a small update to an update in-review which failed because...

(The app shows nearby petrol/diesel stations in Ireland only)

The app uses the Bing Maps Silverlight Control for Windows Phone. Bing Maps is not supported for Group 1 countries at this time. You may resubmit your app and deselect the Group 1 countries.
    Note: Group 1 = China.

Is this happening to anyone else?

I think its related with this:

See point 3.10. Maybe "Disputed territory or region references"? Perhaps you cant distribute mapping apps for Windows Phone in China, because these will show what they consider "Disputed territory or region references".

That's exactly it - and I was able to confirm the issue with a couple of other devs via Twitter. I can only guess that a) it's recent or b) most reviewers miss it as I released a new app and updated another in the last 6 weeks, both use Bing Maps and neither were flagged.

Apparently Nokia Maps is ok to use in China (Group 1).

I wonder is this wiki worthy as it's not public knowledge, from what I can see, but the info is helpful?

Re: WP7 + Bing Maps + China = not allowed?!

There was an article on the Windows Phone Dev Blog recently that talked about common reasons for app rejections. Below there was also a comment on a less know fact that lead to a rejection. Might be worth it to create a Wiki article detailing some of those more special cases that many won't be aware of (e.g. that Bing Maps can lead to issues with paragraph 3.10 of the certification guidelines). So it would be more an article intended to serve as a collection of issues rather than one on the particular issue.

To my knowledge China just not allows mapping at all due to spying possibilities...
    The coördinates get 'shifted'.
Currenlty it seems only some providers ( like nokia ) are allowed to use the correct shifting algorithm.
