    Take a photo remotely

    Hi everyone !

I am new to windows phone and lumia developement.

I am trying to take a picture triggered remotely thanks to another phone or laptop or every thing that can be possible. This is not for a martket purpose but for an interactive installation.
For the moment, I a am seeking for the best solution.

    • - Remote control the phone thanks to a VNC server or equivalent but it seems to be impossible on Windows Phone.
    • - Develop my own photo app and trigger the photo thanks to a wifi connexion. I discover the Imaging SDK. I like all the Nokia Pro Cam features, is it possible to have a "Nokia Pro Cam like" in my app (manual white balance, focus, flash, etc...) ?
    • - Are there any external device to control the camera like for DSLR camera ?

Do you have any advice or idea how to do this trick ? :-)

    Thanks for your help !

Hmmmm I don't think its possible with the standard API to take a picture without user interaction while in the background, no matter how you try.
I think your app will have to be in the front to begin with...

As Shai.i said - your App will have to be running in order to do this. You can open regular TCP ports in order to access the App remotely or you can use a simple WebServer for the commands like described in this article: http://developer.nokia.com/community..._Windows_Phone

Aside from that, yes the APIs allow you to manually control White Balance, Focus and Flash settings).

    @Gamgie,

Such apps exist already in the store:

Can you use one of those or do you need a custom one?

    Re: Take a photo remotely

thank you all and sorry for the late answer !

@Itomuta : these apps are great. I tried Remote shot beta and it is exactly what I want. But it is based on bluetooth and I don't really trust bluetooth on interactive installation. The ideal communication protocol is wifi (on a local network). But the app doesn't to work like this. I will try Gotya to see if it's working properly. I didn't try TapShoot for the same reason of Remote Shot.

@SB Dev : and is it possible to avoid lock screen in an app ? Thanks for the link. Maybe I will have to develop my own app.

An App can disable IdleDetection which will keep the Lockscreen from engaging.
