    Map-Position shifted in China

    Hi,

costumers travelling to China with our GPS-app (based on the Here-maps-control) are reporting, that their position is displayed wrong on the map (about 300m shifted)
The funny thing is, when they check on the WP8-Here-Maps-App, which is using the same maps, the position is displayed correctly.

    How is this possible?
Is there a correction to this "China-Shift" build in the Maps-app, which is missing in the Maps-Control?

    Tom

    Re: Map-Position shifted in China

    Hi,
more customers of us are complaining about this location-shift in China, while the Here Maps-App is showing the correct position.
How is this possible if both apps are using the same data?

    Tom

It's a licensing issue... to date only here maps by Nokia has a license from China to show gps positions with the correct shifting algorithm.

    Re: Map-Position shifted in China

Basically, what I would do is:

    1. Check whether shifting is the same throughout the country (i.e. the position is always shifted (for example) 200 meters North and 200 meters West)

    If it is:

    2. Introduce the changes to the code which would:

    a. Check whether the app is run on the territory of China
    b. If it is, then substract or add a specific value from Latitude and Longitude doubles that the application returns so that the displayed position on the map of your application matches that of the real position of a person

If the shift, however, isn't a constant value (i.e. the position is shifted randomly every time) then, I believe, you can do nothing about it
