    Linking to apps on the Nokia App Market Place

    Hi there

    I'm in the process of porting all our Android apps to Nokia and am having good success. The only thing which seems to be crashing the app at the moment is our buttons to either rate the app, or find more apps made by us. Obviously this is because the Nokia X doesn't have any of the Google Play services and the Playstore which the intent refers too.

    What is the Uri should I use in my intent instead to find and rate the app on Nokia X?

    My current intents look like this

    //Rate intent
    Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
    intent.setData(Uri.parse("market://details?id=com.veloce.vespaebg"));
    startActivity(intent);

    //search for our other apps intent
    Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
    intent.setData(Uri.parse("https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Veloce+Digital+Ltd"));
    startActivity(intent);

    Cheers, Jamie

    Re: Linking to apps on the Nokia App Market Place

    I am looking for the same thing. Tried the Nokia X emulator. The app works other than the market link.

    I am also using id link for current and upsell app e.g. market://details?id=com.infinut.kidsphonics
    and using market search link for all our apps e.g. market://search?q=pub:INFINUT

    I also use different links and a separate build for amazon, and a custom intent (com.bn.sdk.shop.details) for Nook.
    So, I can use a custom link or custom intent for nokia, but, don't know what it is.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hey guys,

    market://details?id=com.your.package.name can be used to point to the app page in Nokia Store.

    We don't currently support the Store search use cases or direct rating links. These have been identified as feature requests.

    Excellent point shpe, that indeed works perfectly. Though, I tested with Symbian links I have in my home page (http://www.drjukka.com/YBrowser.html), anyway, Nokia X browser indeed opened store view with the content (and said that its not compatible with the device I'm using)

    Re: Linking to apps on the Nokia App Market Place

    Cheers for all your help chaps

    I have gone ahead and published the app with the "market://details?id=com.veloce.vespaebg" uri in the intent, and have simply removed the button/method with the search intent on it.

    Can I ask where any documentation on this is on the Nokia Developer portal - examples are
    Amazon Appstore - https://developer.amazon.com/post/Tx...r-Android.html
    Google Play - http://developer.android.com/distrib...e/linking.html

    Be great to look through any api information regarding linking to the nokia store

    Click on 'Resource' above and resource library etc., and choose your technology as Nokia X

    the FAQ only answers how to access the market with your own store software, NOT how to link to it with a normal webbrowser, which is also important!
    Can you please add this information too?

    Re: Linking to apps on the Nokia App Market Place

    Just to add, I imagine the reason why the "market://details?id=com.veloce.vespaebg" intent crashed on the Nokia X emulator is that it doesn't have Nokia Store installed. The same thing happens with the standard Android emulator - it will crash, as it doesn't have Google Play installed. The only way to test this is with real devices AFAIK.

    From the FAQ, I have a question about one of the answers:

    "Yes. Since Google Play Store is not installed on the device, links pointing to Google Play app download pages will be handled by other apps capable of handling the url scheme. If Nokia Store is chosen to handle such links and the app is in Nokia Store, the user will be able to download the app."

    Does this apply to any links from an app - and does this mean that say, https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...eloce.vespaebg will automatically redirect to the same page on Nokia Store (as long as the user picks Nokia Store)?

    If so, that means that links should work even if you aren't using the market:// .

    But, what if Nokia Store doesn't have such an app? Will the user get told the app doesn't exist, or will it fall back to showing the Google Play page in the browser?

    I would prefer the latter: currently I have some free apps, and they all have a link to a Google Play page for my "Donation" paid app, as this is an easy way to do donations. I can't put this app on Nokia Store, since Nokia apparently don't support paid apps for Nokia X (!) Although the Google Play version can't be installed by Nokia X users, at least I can put some info there explaining this, putting Paypal links etc. But if instead they just get told that the app doesn't exist, then that isn't very helpful...

    ETA: Well, I've tested this on a real Nokia X using Remote Device Access - it is the former, if the user selects Nokia Store and there is no app, it'll say no results found.
