I would not think the phone would be blocking the access, I would consider other alternatives for it. For example its more likely that the service provider might block usage of service based on the user-agent, or the network you are using with the device might also have differences when compared to the network used with the laptop, and it might also effect the usage there.

Re: Google places api not show pushpin on the map when running on device

I have not read the terms & conditions for teh service, but see this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...a-in-bing-maps it basically suggest that the terms and conditions may restrict the usage of Google services, in other maps offerings. Thus having the IE showing the Google map would be ok, but using the services in other maps might not be, anyway, I would not know whether they would be having a logic to actually prevent the usage.

Anyways's I could suggest you to try out the HERE Places API, it has nice REST service defined for it as well, and it should work just fine (with the usage limitations posed though) in WP apps.

Basically as you can see the other apps are using Google maps as well, anyways, I would suggest you debug and see whether there are any data fetched, or whetehr you can find any errors in any reply, or whether for some reason some parts of your logic are actually not executed.
