    Notification on standby screen with Lumia glance

    Hi all,

    I am new to windows phone programming and working on an app which writes user defined notifications to the
    lockscreen and to the standby screen using the Lumia glance function.

    This is basically the code that I am using
    Code:
    public static void SetLockScreenText(string NotificationText)
    {
         var tile = ShellTile.ActiveTiles.First();
         var tiledata = new FlipTileData { WideBackContent = NotificationText };
         tile.Update(tiledata);
    }
    It displays notifcations on the apps tile, on the phones lockscreen and on the standby screen.
    Now I am stuck with the following problem:
    I would like to switch off writing to lockscreen and tile but still show the notification in glance.
    Is there a way to write only to glance and not to the tile and lockscreen?

    Further: glance does not break the lines (neither \r nor \n has any effect).
    It always just shows one line and cuts it off if it is too long.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks
    Matthias

    Glance is tied to the Lockscreen. So no - you can't write to Glance only without writing to the lockscreen.

    Thanks for your answer,
    any idea how I could get glance at least to break lines? Lockscreen accepts \n or \r
    Glance doesn't.

    From an API perspective, no - I don't really know how to do this. What you could try (although that's definitely a very hacky solution) would be to pad the text with whitespaces like spaces or tabstops until it does a line break. Can't say wether that works as I have not tried it yet.
