    Special characters in text-mode sms?

    Hello,

how can I encode special characters in sms text-mode, like the german (ue), (ae)... .
I tried including them direct in the message, but once transmitted to the phone these special characters disappeared or were replaced by other strange symbols.

Thanks for your help. Posted by Klaus Petesli, klaus@petesli.ch

This could depend on several things:

1)The character encoding scheme used by your operating system. (iso-8859-1 or something else?)

2)The method you're using to transmit the messages to the phone (hyperterminal session with AT commands or what?)

3)The languages supported by the phone itself.

You may want to look at 3GPP TS 23.038 to see the SMS 7-bit encoding table.
