    7650/3650 emulator

    Hi,

I'm developing MIDlets for the Nokia 7650 but I don't want to use the 7210 emulator cos it has a smaller screen. Should I use the "series 60 concept" emulator which generates MIDP 2.0 apps (which I don't want!) or can I download one from this site? (I've searched but to no avail).

    Thanks!
    Ed

It's ok to run MIDP 1.0 MIDlets on Concept emulator.
However, I experienced Series 60 Concept Emulator 0.3. being very slow.

I would advise you using SDK for Symbian OS. Yes you can use them it in Java development and even debug e.g. from JBuilder

    P.S.
For some tasks, probably , concept SDK is the only solution. However, if you are creating ordinary games, you can use Symbian SDK.

Thank you for your reply, doctordwarf.

I hate to ask it, because it seems like such a basic question, but here goes : how do I set up the Symbian OS SDK to work through JBuilder? It doesn't seem to have an XML configuration file like the other emulators.

    Thanks very much!

No shame to ask. In fact it's a shame not to ask
This forum is for asking questions, right?

Just set up a new JDK with Home Path pointing to Emulator folder (the one that is parent for bin and lib folders)

    Thanks again!

Now I really *am* embarrased, but I have looked everywhere for the folder that you spoke of (one that contains the lib and bin subdirectories) but I can't seem to find it. I feel like a very silly person, but could you please tell me what the JDK path is on your computer? For reference, the Symbian SDK is installed to the C:\ drive, so it goes C:\Symbian\6.1\ and then goes to Series60 and Shared.

Thanks very much, you are a lifesaver

I just got an idea that we might talk about different things

There is MIDP SDK for Symbian.
And you probably mean some general c++ SDK
Maybe it's possible to use it also, I have no idea about it.

    Sorry for confusing you

could you please tell me what the JDK path is on your computer?

    Here it is:
    C:\WTK20\wtklib\devices\Series_60_MIDP_SDK_for_Symbian_OS_v_1_0

I installed it to Wireless Toolkit directory, because.. because I install there all the emulators

Ah, no wonder I was having difficulty! I'm downloading the proper SDK now . Thank you so much for your help.
